eyecue

Privacy policy

Effective 1 November 2026. Your videos never leave your phone.

The short version

Eyecue records on your phone and keeps your takes there. You can use the whole app without an account. If you sign in, your scripts are backed up so you can get them back on another phone. The free version shows banner ads, and the app uses Google's Firebase to send reminders and to count how the app is used and when it crashes. The details are below.

Who we are

Eyecue is made by Carthage Labs. This policy covers the Eyecue app on iPhone and Android and the website eyecuee.com. For any privacy question or request, write to EyeCue.contact@proton.me.

Your videos and scripts

Eyecue asks for the camera and microphone so it can record you, and for your photo library only when you save a take to it. Recording, trimming and saving all happen on your device. We never upload your videos and we never see them.

Your scripts, folders and settings are stored on your phone. They leave it only if you sign in to back them up (see the next section).

Signing in and backup (optional)

You can sign in with Google, or with Apple on iPhone. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, which receives your name, email address and an account ID from Google or Apple. When you are signed in, your scripts and folders are copied to Google Cloud Firestore under your account and kept in step across your phones. This data is stored on Google servers in the United States and only your account can read it.

Without signing in, the app still creates an anonymous ID with Firebase so reminders (below) can reach your phone. It is not linked to your name or email.

Reminders

If you allow notifications, Eyecue sends a few reminders: a nudge to record a script you wrote, a note if you have not opened the app for a while, and a heads-up the day before a free trial ends. To send them at the right time and in your language, we store for your phone: a push notification token, your app language, your platform (iPhone or Android), the planned reminder times and, for a script reminder, that script's title. Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers them. Turn reminders off in Eyecue's Settings or in your phone's settings; turning them off clears the plan.

Voice scroll

When you turn on Follow my voice, the microphone sound is turned into text so the script can move with you. On Android this happens on the phone and the sound never leaves it. On iPhone, Eyecue uses Apple's speech recognition: on the phone when your iPhone supports your language offline, otherwise Apple may process the audio under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive or store it.

Analytics and crash reports

Eyecue uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used (for example that a first recording was made or the Pro screen was opened) and Firebase Crashlytics to learn when and where the app crashes. They receive an app instance ID, device and app details (model, system version, language, app version) and these events, never your scripts or videos. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics follows the choice you make in the consent message.

Ads

The free version shows banner ads. They are served by Google AdMob, which may also fill them through Meta Audience Network and Liftoff Monetize. To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, these companies may collect:

  • your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iPhone, Advertising ID on Android), where you allow it;
  • your IP address and the approximate location that comes from it;
  • device and app information, such as model, operating system, language and app version;
  • how you interact with the ads.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Eyecue shows Google's consent message before personalised ads. On iPhone, Eyecue asks through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; if you decline, your advertising identifier is not used. Each company handles this data under its own policy: Google, Meta and Liftoff. Eyecue Pro removes the ads.

Eyecue Pro purchases

Payments go through the App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details. RevenueCat checks whether you have Pro: it receives your store purchase record and an ID created by the app, not your name or email. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

What we do not do

  • We do not upload, view or sell your videos.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not read your scripts; the backup copy exists only for your account.

How long we keep data

Your account and backed-up scripts are kept until you delete them or your account. Reminder data is replaced each time the app plans new reminders and cleared when you turn reminders off. Analytics and crash data are kept for the periods Google sets for those tools. Purchase records are kept by Apple, Google and RevenueCat as the law requires.

Deleting your data

In Eyecue, open Settings and choose Delete account: your account and every backed-up script are erased. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the phone. You can also ask us by email; see Delete your account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you can ask to access, correct, export or delete personal data, and object to personalised advertising. Write to EyeCue.contact@proton.me and we will help. You can also change ad consent in the app and reset your advertising identifier in your phone's settings.

Children

Eyecue is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

This website

eyecuee.com uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view; see how Google uses this data. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off until you choose Accept in the cookie banner; to change your choice, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner returns. You can also block it with your browser's cookie settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The script you type into the demo on the home page stays in your browser. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
